ABOUT

Epic and majestic, with moments of heartbreaking intimacy, this musical play examines the causes, the conditions and the characters involved in this ever-fascinating drama. This is the factual story of that ship -of her officers, crew and passengers - and the tragic story of the beautiful ship herself. (Playbill)

TMTC's biggest production to date

Stepping up

This musical theatre production demanded larger sets, elaborate costumes, and detailed props to bring it to life. As the Director of Production, it was my job to manage and oversee all production teams to ensure that we completed each deliverable on time and within budget.

Scaling up

Working with an inflated version of everything the company had done in the past required persistence and dedication from every single team member. Those needs were met with enthusiasm every step of the way.

Holy Mother of God! Is that a ship or a mountain?

MY PROCESS

HIRING THE CREW

I brought on all production roles, including stage management teams, department heads, and designers. My process included pushing out application forms, reviewing candidates, scheduling interviews, and finally on-boarding.

WEEKLY MEETINGS

Once all teams were hired, I hosted weekly meetings to delegate tasks and to ensure that everything was on track for show time. These weekly meetings occurred over the course of 5 months. Additionally, I scheduled deadlines including preliminary presentations and final presentations, organizing across multiple teams ensuring deliverables were being met in accordance with the Director's vision.

TECH WEEK

Alongside the venue's team and the Technical Director, I created weekly and daily schedules for tech week making sure all moving parts ran smoothly. This included load-in, set build, levels, Q2Q, tech dress rehearsal, dress rehearsal, show times, and strike.

POST PRODUCTION

During post production, I oversaw financial reimbursements of the production team working alongside the Director of Finance to make sure everyone received their production money back on track with our schedule. I completed a most-mortem report outlining the production, setting the next production team within Toronto Metropolitan Theatre Company up for success.
